After the Velvet Revolution which happened in 1989, Prague has become a top tourist destination in Europe. Evidence of this is the booming hospitality business in this capital city of the Czech Republic.

There are many selections for accommodations in Prague. It will manly depend on how much you want to allocate for your room. You can choose from hotels, youth hostels, pensions, floating hotels, and apartments.

One tip though is that you must remember not to base your choice on the number of stars each has because the stars are awarded by the owners of the business, so it can be extremely subjective. Of course, this does not include the big chain of hotels.

Also, don’t let distance from the city center cloud your choice. Prague has a very efficient transport system, and you can easily travel around the city without a problem – even without a tourist guide.

If you plan to travel from April to October, be forewarned. This is prime tourist season, and so make sure you have a reservation before even entering the city, or take chance of being stuck without a place to stay.

Hotels in Prague can be luxurious high end, international 5 star ranking, and with the corresponding steep price. You will be pampered to the hilt when you stay in these hotels. For a great selection of places to stay with discount prices visit Prague Hotels for more information.

If you prefer not to spend you precious dollars on a bed and bath, you can always rent a private apartment. This kind of accommodations will work very well for large groups and families. You can save tremendously with meals since you can cook in these private units.

Hotel in PragueIf you booked and paid for your apartment through your travel agency, make sure to get a voucher to show when you get to the unit. It’s a precautionary measure, but won’t cost you a penny to take.

Hostels are based on twin sharing with common bath. It is very cheap to stay in hostels, but then you have no amenities. Generally, the closer the hostel is to the city center, the more expensive the room rates become.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can try camping. There are several campsites both inside Prague or on the outskirts of Prague. The rates are rock bottom but then you get what you pay for. In other words, there are hardly any facilities and you will need to be ready to rough it out.

However, due to the weather, most campsites close from November to April. Some of the more popular sites are Aritma, Troja, and Kotva Bran.
If you prefer more comfort without the expense, you could try a pension or a bed and breakfast house. These are generally scattered all around the city, and you might need a travel agent to find a good one for you.

Accommodations in Prague is relatively easy to manage, if you choose wisely and book early.
